ROBERT JEFFERSON, Vice President, Development
Robert Jefferson joined the NHP Foundation in 2022, and is responsible for development activities including feasibility analysis, coordinating pre-development deliverables, negiotiating deal terms, and managing projects through construction completion. Jefferson is an affordable housing developer that has over 10 years of experience investing, building and developing Multi-family and Affordable Housing apartment assets in several US markets. His experience includes leading teams to acquire, develop and refinance properties through private and public partnerships. Jefferson has led deal originations, executions and secrured over $250 million in debt and equity funding for projects.
Previously, Jefferson served as the Chief Real Estate Officer at IMPACCT Brooklyn, and has built development teams at two non-profit affordable housing development organiations, IMPACCT Brooklyn and Bridgestreet Development Corporation. While at those organizations, Robert structured 9% LIHTC, 4% LIHTC, Historical tax credit and Brownfield tax credit projects. Jefferson also founded a real estate private equity firm, Obsidian Tower Holdings, LLC, that syndicated market-rate and workforce housing projects.
Jefferson’s experience includes managing P&Ls for many Fortune 500 companies includling American Express, Procter and Gamble, and Walt Disney.
Jefferson earned an MB-Real Estate Development from UNC Chapel Hill, and has a bachelors degree in Accounting from Hampton University. In 2016, Robert graduated from the Real Estate Associates Program (REAP), and currently is a CALIBR member, a Council of Urban Real Estate member, and Vice Chair to the Board of Babies and Mothers Alive (BAMA).
