Sheffin Joseph is a Senior Acquisitions and Development Analyst with The NHP Foundation, where he is responsible for the acquisition and development of affordable housing assets across the United States.
Prior to joining NHP, Sheffin worked in the Chief Investment Office of Prudential Financial where he was responsible for investing over $200 million in Low Income Housing Tax Credit funds and diversified private real estate funds with a global footprint. Prior to Prudential, Sheffin worked at the NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development (“HPD”) as an Asset Manager for affordable housing assets across NYC. At HPD, Sheffin was instrumental in designing and implementing the Multifamily Water Assistance Program for Affordable Housing with the NYC Department of Environmental Protection and the NYC Housing Development Corporation. This program created economic incentives for affordable housing properties to invest in upgrades that dramatically reduce their water consumption. Sheffin’s professional interests are at the intersection of affordable housing and economic development. Prior to graduate school, Sheffin worked on several projects and short term assignments in the environmental and education fields. Sheffin holds a B.S. in Environmental Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning with a focus on Economic Development and a minor in Real Estate from Cornell University.
