Micah Hunter joined NHPF in November 2021 as a member of the acquisition and development group, responsible for acquiring, financing, developing, and preserving multifamily housing.
Previously, he was a Senior Project Manager at B&B Urban LLC, focusing on affordable and supportive housing. He led the adaptive reuse of a historic commercial building into live/work lofts in Baltimore (Crook Horner Lofts), secured a Baltimore Regional Neighborhood Initiative Grant, and attracted a restaurant tenant. He also helped finance a 170-unit LIHTC project in the Bronx (Williamsbridge Gardens), secured a Project-Based Section 8 Award, and assisted in the conversion of a 100-unit LIHTC project in Brooklyn (Linwood Park Apartments). Additionally, he oversaw property management for six buildings and secured grants to provide internet for remote learning in community spaces.
Hunter previously served as a Senior Underwriter and Project Manager at NYC’s Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), evaluating private site new construction proposals and contributing to HPD’s MWBE Build Up program.
He holds a Master’s in Urban Policy and Management from The New School and degrees in Psychology and Human Development from Hampton University and Virginia Tech. A former HPD-HDC Housing Fellow, he also has seven years of experience in child welfare and juvenile justice.
